Backups at cdmon: your website always safe, without complications

Have you ever lost important information from your website due to an error or an attack? Losing an entire website due to an error, an attack, or a technical failure is more common than it seems. An incompatible update, an accidental click, or silent malware is enough to make an entire digital project inaccessible. And when it happens, there’s only one thing that makes a difference: having an up-to-date backup.
Backups are the safety net for any website. They not only allow you to recover lost information: they guarantee continuity, stability, and peace of mind for any online project, from a personal blog to an e-commerce site.
With our integrated backup tool, this problem disappears. It doesn’t matter if you’re on shared hosting or managing a dedicated or virtual server: you will always have a lifeline ready to restore your website.
What is a backup and what is it for?
Definition and purpose
A backup is a duplication of a website’s files and database stored in a safe place. Its purpose is to restore the site in case of loss, damage, or error, recovering its previous state.
What advantages does it offer?
🔁 Up to 15 days of backup on shared hosting
📅 Up to 10 days on dedicated or virtual servers
🧩 Complete or selective restoration: you can recover your entire site or just specific files and/or databases.
🖱️ All with a single click from the cdmon control panel, within the hosting management. No complications.
What risks does it avoid?
😰 “I accidentally deleted a file”
✅ Restore just that file from the control panel. Easy, fast, and without contacting support.
🤯 “An update broke my website”
✅ Go back to a previous point with a single click. You recover the exact state of your website in minutes.
🛡️ “I suffered an attack and need to revert to before the incident”
✅ Choose a backup prior to the attack and restore the website and database. No headaches.
The cdmon backup tool reduces friction in managing and recovering your website:
| Traditional Problem | Solution with cdmon Backups |
|---|---|
| Having to manually configure an external backup system | Automatic backups managed by cdmon, no configurations |
| Not knowing if you have backups available or when they are from | Visible history of up to 15 days (shared hosting) or 10 days (servers) |
| Restoring an entire site when only a database or file failed | Selective restoration of files, databases, or both |
| Dependence on technical support to recover a backup | 100% restoration from the control panel, no intermediaries |
| Fear of losing everything after an update or attack | Rollback with a single click from any available restore point |
| Not knowing what each backup includes | Clear separation between web files and databases within the tool |
| Long and technical recovery processes | Immediate and guided restoration, accessible for any profile |
Main threats that put your website at risk
Attacks and malware
Cyberattacks are becoming more frequent. WordPress, for example, is a common target. Malware can:
- Delete files.
- Alter content.
- Inject SPAM.
- Compromise credentials.
A recent backup allows you to return to a clean state and eliminate the damage.
Human errors
From accidentally deleting a folder to modifying a critical file. Most website incidents are due to oversights.
Update errors or incompatibilities
Plugins, themes, PHP, or the CMS itself can fail after an update. A previous backup allows you to restore the stable version with a click.
Server failures or data loss
Unexpected crashes, damaged disks, or hardware problems can affect any provider. That’s why it’s important to have backups in different locations.
Types of backups
Full backup
Makes an exact copy of all files and the database.
Advantage: complete and simple restoration.
Disadvantage: takes up more space and takes longer.
Incremental backup
Only saves files modified since the last backup.
Advantage: fast and efficient.
Disadvantage: restoring may require several versions.
Differential backup
Duplicates changes since the last full backup.
Advantage: balance between size and speed.
Disadvantage: can grow over time.
Automatic vs manual backups
- Automatic: scheduled, secure, and constant.
- Manual: useful before a major update.
Local vs cloud backups
- Local: fast, but vulnerable if the server fails.
- Cloud / external storage: additional guarantee.
cdmon recommendation: combine automatic backups + external storage whenever possible.
How often should you back up?
Frequencies according to type of website
The frequency depends on the site’s activity:
| Type of website | Recommended frequency |
|---|---|
| Personal blog | Daily or every 48h |
| Ecommerce | Daily |
| Corporate website | 1–3 times per week |
| Portfolio / static website | Weekly |
The 3-2-1 backup rule
Optimized for snippet:
- 3 copies of your data,
- in 2 different formats,
- 1 copy stored off the main server.
It is the recommended professional standard.
Benefits of having a reliable backup system
Protection against cyberattacks
You don’t need to do anything: we take care of creating and storing the backups for you. You just choose what and when to restore. If your website suffers from malware, ransomware, or code injection, having an up-to-date backup allows you to restore it immediately.
Quick recovery from incidents
Your website can be back online in minutes, minimizing traffic, sales, or reputation losses. You don’t need technical knowledge. The tool is designed so that anyone can use it with total confidence.
Operational peace of mind and business continuity
It works just as well if you have a small website or if you manage dozens of servers. Everything is unified and accessible. You will sleep soundly knowing that nothing depends on a single point of failure.
How to manage backups in cdmon
Automatic backups
At cdmon we perform automatic daily backups of your hosting’s web files and databases. You don’t have to configure them: they are included in all hosting plans.
To manage them, enter your cdmon Control Panel, access the hosting management, and in the side menu, go to Security → Restore backup. From there you can see the available backups and restore your website to the state of a previous day.
Important: at cdmon we do not back up emails, only web files and databases. If you permanently delete an email, we will not be able to recover it.
One-click restoration
The restoration tool is designed so you can recover your website in a few steps:
- Go to Security → Restore backup.

- Choose the type of restoration:
- Complete restoration: web files + databases.
- Restore web files: only site files.
- Restore databases: only databases.
- Select the date you want to restore on the calendar.

- Click on Start restoration. If you have chosen to Restore web files or database, choose the files you want to restore and whether you want to replace or leave a copy.

The system will execute the process, and when finished, you will receive an automatic email confirming that the restoration has been completed. Done, your website is restored.
Version retention
Backups are kept for several days, depending on the type of service contracted:
- Shared Hosting Plans (Start, Junior, Senior, Master): up to 15 days of backups.
- Virtual and Dedicated Servers: up to 10 days of backups.
This means you can return your website to any of the available states within that history. If you know that “everything worked fine three days ago,” you can choose that date, and your site will be restored exactly as it was then.
Usage recommendations
To get the most out of cdmon backups, we recommend:
- Use complete restorations if the entire website is affected or broken.
- Restore only web files if the problem is with a plugin, theme, or damaged file.
- Restore only the database if errors affect the content or internal structure of the CMS.
- Restore without overwriting the current website, using the
/restoresfolder, to check copies or perform local tests. - Create and download a compressed copy of your website to have a local version.
Best practices for managing your backups
Automate whenever possible
Make sure your automatic backups are active, and don’t rely solely on manual backups. This way, you ensure that there is always a recent version of your website, even if you forget to back up before a change.
Keep multiple versions
Don’t just keep the most recent copy. The cdmon history (10–15 days depending on the plan) allows you to go back several steps if you discover a problem late. The more versions you have available, the more leeway you have to choose the “healthy” point to return to.
Verify that it can be restored correctly
Occasionally, it’s good practice to:
- Launch a test restoration (for example, in
/restores). - Check that the files and database have been recovered correctly.
A backup that cannot be restored is equivalent to not having a backup.
Protect the copy with encryption
If you download your copies to store them locally or in external storage, make sure to:
- Limit access only to necessary people.
- Protect them with encryption or password.
- Store them in secure places.
Final checklist: is your data protected?
✔ Do you have automatic backups enabled?
✔ Do you know the retention days of your plan?
✔ Do you keep multiple versions?
✔ Do you back up before updating WordPress or PHP?
✔ Have you ever tried to restore?
✔ Do you have any copy downloaded externally?
✔ Do you follow the 3-2-1 rule?
Conclusion: security starts with a good backup
Having a reliable backup system is no longer optional: it is the foundation of any secure digital project. At cdmon we offer you daily automatic backups, one-click restorations, and multiple versions available so you can always recover your website if something goes wrong.
With this backup tool, you will no longer fear errors, hacks, or failures. Your website will always be protected and under your control. Your peace of mind and the continuity of your project depend on it.
